About Mitesh R. Patel, MD
Dr. Mitesh Patel is an advanced endoscopist and board-certified gastroenterologist with over a decade of academic and clinical leadership experience.
Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Dr. Patel graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a degree in Medical Technology and a minor in Spanish. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine with prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha distinction. He then relocated to New York City, completing his residency in Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, followed by dual fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Advanced Endoscopy at the Montefiore Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Patel spent nearly ten years as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and attending gastroenterologist at Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown School of Medicine. He has trained hundreds of medical students, residents, and fellows, while specializing in the treatment of complex pancreatobiliary diseases, obscure GI bleeds, altered surgical anatomy, and the diagnosis and staging of GI malignancies. He also served as a hands-on course instructor for the American College of Gastroenterology and taught board reviews for the American College of Physicians. Most recently, he served as the Chief of Gastroenterology for Mary’s Center Medical Clinic and a Principal Investigator for Phase III clinical trials at the Emerson Clinical Research Institute in Washington, DC.
Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Patel enjoys traveling, exploring art history, playing golf, listening to sports podcasts, and spending time with his family and his dog, Duncan.
