About Sean P. Hurley, MD
Sean P. Hurley, MD, is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He joined our practice following a distinguished career as a gastroenterologist in the United States Air Force.
After graduating with a pre-medical degree from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Hurley was awarded an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine through the Air Force at David Grant Medical Center in conjunction with the University of California, Davis. He then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Wilford Hall Medical Center and the University of Texas, San Antonio. His research on Hepatitis C has resulted in multiple publications and an oral presentation at a national gastroenterology meeting.
Following his training, Dr. Hurley served as the Chief of the Department of Gastroenterology at Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews Air Force Base. During his tenure, he directed the Crohn’s and Colitis Clinic and established the Air Force’s first dedicated Remicade® infusion center for patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. He also organized annual community outreach programs to promote colorectal cancer screening awareness.
Dr. Hurley provides comprehensive care for all gastrointestinal and liver diseases. His clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), acid reflux (GERD), swallowing difficulties, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and chronic diarrhea. He remains deeply committed to colorectal cancer prevention and screening.
