About Robert W. Isfort, MD
Dr. Robert Isfort is a native of Cincinnati and received his undergraduate degrees in Biology and English from Loyola University Chicago, graduating magna cum laude. He attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati graduating with honors as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the University of Colorado, where he served as a chief fellow and focused on research in mucosal immunology and inflammatory bowel disease through a National Institutes of Health grant.
Board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr.Isfort’s clinical focus is on the management of inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Additionally, he treats a range of digestive disorders including acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, liver disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, celiac disease, Barrett’s esophagus, and movement disorders of the digestive tract. He performs upper endoscopy (EGD), flexible sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy for the management of these conditions and for cancer screening. His focus in patient care is to promote open communication in order to understand each person in a holistic manner, with the goal of achieving the highest possible level of digestive health.
Dr. Isfort currently serves as the Chair of Chapter Medical Advisory Committee of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (Southern Ohio Chapter) and is an executive board member for the chapter. He has been invited to present multiple lectures to physicians and to the patient community, has several peer‐reviewed publications, and is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. In his free time, Dr. Isfort enjoys adventures in the great outdoors, biking, photography and spending time with his wife and two children.
