About Lubin F. Arevalo Santana, MD
Lubin Arevalo, MD, is a Board Certified Gastroenterologist practicing in Miami, FL. He received his medical degree from Universidad Nacional de Colombia and completed residency at New York Medical College. Additionally, his educational background includes General Surgery Residency experience in Columbia, during which Dr. Arevalo decided to pursue further research opportunities to work with Dr. Jeffrey Ponsky, a world-renowned innovator of surgical and endoscopic techniques at the Minimally Invasive Surgery Center at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio.
His extensive training includes a Fellowship in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at New York Medical College as well as a Fellowship in Esophageal Motility Disorders at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston under the guidance of Dr. Donald Castell, internationally recognized as a leading authority on diseases of the esophagus and esophageal function.
Prior to joining Gastro Health, Dr. Arevalo was the Director of the Gastrointestinal Motility Lab at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Arevalo is a specialist in swallowing disorders, esophageal diseases, and gastrointestinal motility. He is an expert in esophageal testing including high resolution manometry, multichannel intraluminal impedance pH studies, capsule-based pH monitoring, and EndoFLIP (endoluminal functional lumen imaging probe).
Dr. Arevalo performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures for complex esophageal disorders, gastroparesis, video capsule endoscopy, and wireless motility capsule. He additionally preforms upper endoscopies and colonoscopies.
His clinical interests include GERD (both acid and non-acid reflux), Barrett’s Esophagus, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Dysphagia, Achalasia, Non-Cardiac Chest Pain, Gastrointestinal Motility Disorders, Gastroparesis, and Colorectal Cancer Screening.

Dr. Arevalo leads Gastro Health Miami's Motility Services and helped Gastro Health earn a spot on The American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society's Registry of GI Motility Laboratories for Patient Evaluation. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University (FIU).
