W. Timothy Denton, MD, FACG

Dr. Denton joined Gastro Health in 1984 and recently served as group President. He practices at our Brookwood location. He obtained both his undergraduate and medical degree, with honors,  from the University of Mississippi. His internship, residency, and fellowship were all performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. Dr. Denton is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Dr. Denton was the first president and co-founder of the Alabama Gastroenterological Society. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and presently serves as Governor for the State of Alabama chapter. He is a member of the Alabama State Medical Association, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is also a member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America and received their J. Marshall Garrett Medical Achievement Award in 2002.

He has special interest in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease and is involved in quality parameters for gastrointestinal medicine. He is involved in both local and international medical missions, is a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, and is on the Board of M-Power Ministries.
