Shazia I. Rashid, MD

Dr. Shazia Rashid is a gastroenterologist with a robust academic and clinical background. Raised in both New York City and Toronto, Canada, Dr. Rashid pursued her undergraduate studies in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Toronto. She then earned her M.D. from the Medical University of the Americas in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Dr. Rashid completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she also undertook her fellowship training in gastroenterology. Throughout her residency and fellowship, Dr. Rashid has been a strong contributor to the academic community, authoring numerous publications and presenting both oral and poster presentations at national gastroenterology conferences. She also served as an associate editor for the American College of Gastroenterology Case Report Journal for two consecutive years.

Her clinical interests are diverse and include colorectal cancer screening, esophageal and stomach disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Currently residing in Northern Virginia, Dr. Rashid enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending quality time with her husband and two children.
