About Sarah Altajar, MD

Dr. Sarah Altajar is a gastroenterologist in Miami, FL. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Tufts University School of Medicine, where she wrote her thesis on "The Hygiene Hypothesis and Role of Diet on the Pathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease." She attended medical school at Florida International University, where she served as President of the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA). 
 
Dr. Altajar completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Boston Medical Center, where she also chaired the Women in Medicine Committee, followed by a Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami Hospital. During her fellowship, she was Chief Fellow and received the Dr. Martin Kaiser Award for Excellence in Gastroenterology.
 
Dr. Altajar is a dedicated member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), and the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA). She is committed to providing exceptional patient care, with a focus on treating each patient with the utmost compassion and personalized attention.
