Dr. Michael C. Brown is a board certified gastroenterologist with a breadth of experience treating all aspects of gastrointestinal diseases and disorders. He has a particular interest in colon cancer screening, hereditary colon cancer syndromes, inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), lymphocytic colitis, acid reflux, and gallstone and gallbladder disease. For over two decades, Dr. Brown has treated patients in Prince William County, Stafford County, and throughout Northern Virginia. Dr. Brown was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and grew up primarily in Fairfield, Connecticut. He attended Duke University on an academic scholarship, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in history while taking many courses in art and philosophy and also completing his premedical school requirements. After college, he attended and graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine and then went on to complete an Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. While in Seattle, he received a Clinical Research Award from the American College of Gastroenterology for his research regarding stomach contractions.  After completing his fellowship, Dr. Brown moved back to the East Coast to become one of the founding members of Associates in Gastroenterology, now Gastro Health.

When not working, Dr. Brown likes to play soccer, go for a hike in the woods, play chess, and spend time with his wife, three children, and their pets.

Fast Track Screening Colonoscopy

Dr. Brown provides a service called Fast Track Colonoscopy, which is a regular colonoscopy that does not require prior consultation before the colonoscopy procedure. Fast Track Colonoscopy saves patients time, money, and minimizes work absences for doctor visits. Fast Track is for adults 45 or older with an average risk for colorectal cancer that do not have any existing GI symptoms.
