William C. Lopez, MD

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. William Lopez attended Birmingham Southern College where he graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Biology. Dr. Lopez received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Carraway Methodist Medical Center. Advanced subspecialty training in Gastroenterology and liver diseases was completed at Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana.

He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Gastroenterology Association. For 20 years he practiced at St. Vincent’s East (Medical Center East) with a group of internists, Eastern Medical Specialists, P.C.. In September of 2010 Dr Lopez moved his practice to join Dr. Rohit Malik and Dr. Mukul Mehra, who he had shared weekend GI call with for years.

His interests and experience include general Gastroenterology, as well as liver and pancreatic diseases. Services offered include upper endoscopies, colonoscopies, capsule endoscopy, esophageal motility, ph testing, liver biopsies, hemorrhoid treatment and ERCPs. (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) Dr. Lopez is married, and has three daughters.
