Alan A. Sag, MD

Dr. Alan Sag is an esteemed Interventional Radiologist with over a decade of experience in both national and international settings. He is dedicated and passionate about delivering the advantages of minimally invasive therapies to his patients.

Previously, he served at Duke University, holding joint faculty appointments in Interventional Radiology and Orthopaedic Surgery. During his tenure at Duke, Dr. Sag initiated and oversaw three high-volume, nationally recognized service lines. These advancements brought forth expanded treatment options previously unavailable to patients in North Carolina, including Orthopaedic Interventional Oncology Services, Interventional Radiology Pain Management Services, and the establishment of Duke Thyroid RFA and Embolization Clinic.

The Hemorrhoid Centers at Gastro Health Miami is a joint venture between Hemorrhoid Centers and Gastro Health. The location houses the doctors’ office and surgery center where an interventional radiologist performs hemorrhoid embolization procedures.

Hemorrhoid embolization is an interventional radiology treatment for internal hemorrhoids that offers long-lasting relief from rectal bleeding. Hemorrhoids form when abnormal connections are made between arteries and veins in the rectum. Embolization works by blocking these abnormal blood vessel connections, which eliminates the bleeding. 

An Interventional Radiologist performs this minimally invasive procedure under local anesthesia and moderate sedation in patients with internal hemorrhoids of grade one, two or three.
