About Craig M. Ellison, MD

Craig M. Ellison, MD, joined Gastro Health in 2003 after completing a three-year Gastroenterology fellowship at the Lahey Clinic, Tufts University School of Medicine, in Massachusetts. Prior to his fellowship, he completed a three-year residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, in Boston. He earned his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 1997.

Originally from San Diego, California, Dr. Ellison was a nationally ranked junior tennis player and competed in four years of NCAA Division 1 tennis on an athletic scholarship at the University of California, Santa Barbara. During his time there, he served as Team Captain and majored in Economics and Pre-Medical Studies.

Dr. Ellison has been consistently recognized for clinical excellence, having been selected as a “Top Doctor” in Washingtonian Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Washington Consumers' Checkbook. He has also received the “Patients' Choice Award” several times throughout his career.

He is active in all aspects of gastroenterology, including colon cancer screening and polyp detection, as well as GERD and reflux management. He also treats a wide variety of liver, gallbladder, and pancreatic diseases.

Dr. Ellison lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, who is also a physician, and their three children. He enjoys golfing, tennis, traveling, trying new restaurants, and staying active with his family.
