A CT scan, or a computed tomography scan, is a medical imaging procedure that uses a combination of x-ray images to produce an image. Your doctor may have ordered a CT scan to evaluate abdominal pain or to examine organs such as the stomach, small intestine, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, or colon. An abdominal CT scan can also help diagnose conditions such as Crohn's disease. CT scanning is fast, painless, and noninvasive.
