About Andrew Y. Sun, MD

Andrew Sun, MD, is an internist who has been working in the field of gastroenterology for more than 17 years. 

He graduated from Secondary Military Medical School in Shanghai, China in 1985. After graduation, he worked in Shanghai as a surgical resident until 1991. At that time, he moved to the United States and attended graduate school at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire studying molecular genetics. He entered medical residency program at Good Samaritan Hospital in 1997. He was a hospital doctor taking care of acutely ill patients from 2001 to 2005 at Bethesda North Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital. In 2005, he joined gastroenterologists at Group Health Associates and continued to practice in Gastroenterology field since then.

Dr. Sun thoroughly enjoys the work he does, collaborate with his GI specialist colleagues and Primary Care Physicians to help patient's full recovery from an illness. He loves the opportunity to help his patients in every aspect, treating a variety of GI issues. The thing he finds most rewarding in practice medicine is the ability to see patients being healthier and happier after receiving his care.

Outside of work, Dr. Sun enjoys taking care of his family, participating in his children's education and sports activities, and traveling whenever he can.
