Gastro Health, a national leading medical group specializing in digestive and liver health, has signed a definitive agreement to partner with The Gastroenterology Group based in Reston, Virginia. This agreement also includes the state-of-the-art endoscopy center, Reston Endoscopy Center, and an infusion center. The deal is scheduled to close on September 1.

The Gastroenterology Group consists of seven board-certified gastroenterologists and three physician assistants. The team has been committed to providing high-quality, specialized care in gastroenterology, hepatology, and liver-related disorders to patients throughout Northern Virginia since 1987.

“We are thrilled to partner with an additional group in the Northern Virginia market,” said Gastro Health CEO Joseph Garcia. “The Gastroenterology Group’s focus on high-quality care makes them a perfect fit with our existing practices in the Mid-Atlantic as we continue to build a strong network in that region.”

The practice’s physicians are consistently named as Top Doctors by The Washingtonian and Northern Virginia Magazine and have authored numerous abstracts and clinical publications.

“We saw the value in partnering with Gastro Health with its proven experience as a leader in the GI space,” said Shilen V. Lakhani, MD, of The Gastroenterology Group. “This partnership will give us access to technology across analytics, patient engagement, and reporting to further our mission of serving our patients well and efficiently.

This latest acquisition by Gastro Health is part of a continued national growth and expansion period in the single-specialty gastroenterology sector over the last three years. Gastro Health has a presence in six states – Florida, Alabama, Washington, Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland – with over 100 locations and 310 physicians consisting of medical office practices, infusion centers, imaging services, and a specialty pharmacy. Additionally, Gastro Health owns and operates endoscopy centers in five of the six states.
