About Wiley D. Truss, MD, MPH

Dr. Truss joined Gastro Health in July 2017 and practices at our Brookwood and Prattville locations.

He obtained his undergraduate degree from Birmingham-Southern College.  He then went on to obtain his Masters in Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health majoring in Epidemiology.  He obtained his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine and remained at UAB to complete his internal medicine internship and residency training as well as his gastroenterology fellowship training.  Dr. Truss is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

His clinical interests include gastrointestinal malignancies and GI bleeding.  He has particular research interests in small bowel bleeding as well as GI bleeding in high-risk populations, for which he has contributed several publications.

 
Dr. Truss is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
 
Dr. Truss enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with his wife, Rachel Vinson Truss, and their 4 children Abigail, Hannah, Caleb, and Philip Truss.  He attends Hunter Street Baptist Church and has interests in overseas medical missions.
